Manic Monday at Wimbledon features all the fourth-round matches in both the men’s and women’s singles.
Former champions Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Petra Kvitova are all appearing on Centre Court and their matches are the focus for our tennis predictions.
Joao Sousa vs Rafael Nadal
Nadal and Federer are on course to meet in the semi-finals and it would be a major surprise if Sousa prevented that from happening.
Dan Evans will feel he should have beaten the Portuguese in the third round when he failed to make the most of leads in all five sets as he slipped to a 4-6 6-4 7-5 4-6 6-4 defeat.
Sousa has lost his two previous meetings with Nadal, winning just one set, and lost two of the five sets without winning a game.
With that in mind, Nadal to win the first set 6-0 looks good value in the Wimbledon odds.
Matteo Berrettini vs Roger Federer
Berrettini has been one of the form players since the grass-court season began, winning the title in Stuttgart and reaching the semi-finals in Halle.
He was made to battle in the third round though before winning the longest match of the tournament so far, beating Diego Schwartzman 6-7 (5) 7-6 (2) 4-6 7-6 (5) 6-3 in four hours and 19 minutes.
Federer pinpointed the Italian as a Wimbledon title contender recently and this looks a banana skin for the Swiss.
His experience should give him the edge though, especially if Berrettini is feeling the effects of Saturday’s match, and Federer is tipped to win 3-1.
Johanna Konta vs Petra Kvitova
Konta looked in danger of defeat in the third round when she lost the first set to Sloane Stephens but she battled back for victory.
She has made the second week of successive grand slams for the first time but the French Open semi-finalist now faces an even tougher test.
Kvitova won the women’s singles at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014 and relishes playing on the grass at the All England Club.
The Czech sixth seed is yet to drop a set at Wimbledon 2019 and has beaten Konta in straight sets in three of their four previous meetings.
The same outcome can be backed again at odds against so that completes our Manic Monday predictions.
Roger Federer to beat Matteo Berrettini 3-1
Petra Kvitova to beat Johanna Konta 2-0
Rafael Nadal to win first set 6-0 vs Joao Sousa
Joao Sousa failed to win a game in two of the five sets he has played against Rafael Nadal.
Matteo Berrettini’s five-set victory on Saturday was the longest match so far at this year’s Wimbledon.
Petra Kvitova has beaten Johanna Konta in straight sets in three of their four meetings.
