That’s all for today at the Tuscan Grand Prix. One more day Hamilton takes the pole ahead of his teammate Bottas. Carlos Sainz made a worthy ninth place, more than what could expect from the McLaren on this track.
Tomorrow is the big day with the race, or we will be here to tell you about it. See you!
END OF Q2. POLE FOR HAMILTON! Bottas can not improve and will start second with Verstappen third. Here Sainz will do it in ninth place. And Albon meets and is fourth and Leclerq with the Ferrari fifth. Perez, Stroll as well as Ricciardo will be before Sainz and Occasion are tenth. One minute they are left. A yellow flag leads Sainz to abort the lap. Three minutes left. Perez has placed fifth, so Sainz falls to ninth place for the moment. Hamilton’s 1:15.144 is the new track record at Mugello and could be enough for him to take pole position. Seven minutes left. Sainz is eighth, but Perez and Ocon have not yet made time. Eight minutes left. Sainz and Leclerc start with a used set of soft shoes. Hamilton goes first, and Bottas can’t beat him. Verstappen is still third, at four-tenths.
Q3 STARTS!
Twelve minutes ahead to finish determining the grid and find out who is in pole position.
END OF Q2. Nobody does it, and Sainz is in Q3. A grand prize because it was a difficult undertaking here in Mugello. Norris, Kvyat, Raikkonen, Vettel and Grosjean are out. This Q2 has been commanded by Hamilton, who is already showing his teeth to his partner.
1 minute left. SAINZ GETS 10! Let’s see if nobody improves it. 2 minutes left. Vettel doesn’t improve on her first try, and she’s out. 4 minutes left. Back on track for Sainz and more drivers. A couple of attempts to get into Q3. 6 minutes left. The middle zone led by Ricciardo, Stroll, Leclerc, Ocon, Perez and Norris, who complete the top 10. 9
Hamilton is already first, although Bottas is in the same tenth. Verstappen is still third. Eleven minutes left—everyone except Grosjean on the track. And everyone with a soft tire.
START THE Q2!
15 minutes ahead
END OF Q1. Vettel saves by suffering a lot and Gasly, the last winner, is left out. Along with him also fall Giovinazzi, Russell, Latifi and Magnussen. Sainz has finished twelfth and has dominated the Q1 Bottas.
There are 2 minutes left. It is the low zone before the last attempt of each pilot.
Three minutes left. We enter the moment of truth in this Q1. Sainz goes out because he doesn’t trust the income he has.
There are 5 minutes left. Gasly, the winner of the last GP, is now eliminated. And Vettel is on the precipice. Sainz has a three-tenths advantage to be calmer.
There are 7 minutes left. Vettel climbs to 10th place with 17.3. Raikkonen is the one who now marks the saving zone.
Ten minutes left. 17.0 for Sainz who goes third until the Mercedes and Verstappen pass him. He is improving the track a lot.
There are 13 minutes left. Most of them are out: Verstappen, Sainz, Hamilton, Bottas.
They remain for 15 minutes. This teammate Latifi is also on board. Both with the soft tires.
Seventeen minutes left. Russell is the first to dare to go out on the track.
START THE Q1!!
14:58 hours. Maximum tension already in the boxes. It is about to start.
14:53 hours. McLaren does not seem to be as last week, so it would be a success for Carlos Sainz to enter the Q3. If he succeeds from there on, it’s all a dream.
14:49 hours. It seems that the favourite is Bottas, who has dominated all of them. But we know that they are only free that the moment of truth is now. There will undoubtedly be his partner Ñewis Hamilton.
14:43 hours. The classification in this GP is essential since overtaking in the race will be difficult, mainly due to the narrowness of the Mugello circuit, which also has a very long straight that will expose power deficiencies and some sweeping curves. The track will punish errors.
14.35 hours. The last reference we have are the free 3 in which Valtteri Bottas has dominated even though he has been very close to Max Verstappen.
14.30 hours. How are you? Ready for the qualification for the Tuscan Formula 1 Grand Prix? We have already experienced the three free practice rounds between yesterday and this morning, even though the best part remains the distribution of the grid, which will start soon, and the race tomorrow. The Mercedes are favourites but be careful; there could be surprises. Qualifying begins at 15:00, but we are already here to tell you everything that will happen. WE START!
