What Is Pocket Rockets ?

The term “Pocket rockets” refers to a situation whereby a participant is given two Aces in the pocket, which are the hole cards in Texas Hold Em Poker.

When you begin a hand in Texas Hold Em, a dealer will give you two cards, which are dealt face-down, and known as the pocket. These cards are the ones you hide from your opponents at the table so that you can use them together with the community card, to further strengthen your hand. So, when you are given a pair of 2 Aces as your hole cards, these cards are known as a ‘pocket rocket’.
Players adopt this term since an Ace has the highest-ranking of the cards in Texas Hold Em Poker. Players with ‘pocket rockets’ have an upper have over their opponents.
Truth be told, if you have one Ace plus another card as your hole cards, you sure will have the upper hand over your opponents.
It is a definite advantage to hold a ‘pocket rocket’. For instance, if you end up having a hand full of aces, which occurs when the community cards include an Ace and another pair. Then, your ‘pocket rocket’ may result in ‘Aces full of sevens’, that is, three Aces and a pair of sevens.

‘Pocket rockets’ may also incur having ‘Aces over hand’, which is when the community cards show another pair of cards. Thus, you get two pairs; your ‘pocket rocket’ and another duo; Aces over sevens, for instance. Otherwise, you can easily win the game simply with the ‘pocket rocket’, that is, by holding a pair with the highest value in Texas Hold Em Poker, if possible.
Although it is not often that you will win with ‘pocket rockets’, you still get the upper hand with such cards.
