What Is Pit Manager ?

The principal role of the pit manager is to ensure the flawless functioning of the casino and an efficient and conducive environment for the players. Usually, the pit manager is always monitoring the casino, walking around the area and ensuring that the games are played by the rules. Also, he or she watches out for misconduct amongst customers.

Pit Manager Explained

The pit managers are also called the ‘gaming supervisor’ or ‘pit boss’. And, their primary duty is to supervise all activities going on in the casino during their various shifts. They generally oversee different tables to ensure that the games being played are by the rules, or that the players do not commit offenses.

Also, they watch the customers, checking for suspicious movements or behaviors that show that the customer is likely to cheat the game. For instance, the pit manager will take action if a player is found to be drunk and disturbing other players or if the customer shows aggressiveness towards the staff or another player.

Additionally, the pit managers check the cashiers to ensure that they correctly convert the chips that players win in the game.
Besides, the managers are the ones who allow the customers to enjoy their times at the casino, and therefore, every pit manager should possess excellent social skills to work efficiently. Plus, the pit manager is also responsible for listening to customers and answering questions or provides solutions to minor problems the players in the casino may have. They may also give to some specific customers, incentives and additional bonuses such as meals for free, complimentary drinks or refreshments, hotel accommodation, etc. They also have the responsibility of monitoring the other casino staff, security staff, servers, and any other casino floor employees, and they also supervise the gamblers or customers too. They also play significant roles in staff employment, management and training, planning work schedules, checking the overall performances of the staff and the casino, etc.
