What Is Blaze ?

A Blaze is under the category of a non-standard poker hand which means that this game is not recognised as part of the standard Poker rules as well as being part of the official ranking. Blaze is the term used to describe a hand in Poker which consists of five face cards.

Instead of following the rules and ranking system of standard Poker games, the blaze could come into a play as part of the house rules. Since the Aces are not among the face cards, therefore, the Blaze is considered a hand made up entirely of Kings, Queens, and Jacks only. Typically, a Blaze ranks between the two pair and the three-of-a-kind.

Blaze Explained

In a non-standard Poker hand, the hands are not recognised by the official Poker rule but are made by the house rules. These Poker games commonly appear using bugs or wild cards. Freak hands or special hands are the other names for non-standard hands. Since the house rules define the hands, therefore the rankings as well as the composition of the hands, they are subject to variation. Thus, any player who will participate in the games with non-standard hands must be sure to determine the exact rules of the game before it starts.

Blaze is sometimes called Blazer. The term Blaze is considered the most common term is referring to a hand in Poker which contains only face cards of any combinations and sometimes may contain Better or three-of-a-kind such as a Full Fouse. Since Blaze is consisting of only face cards, it can often appear like a Better hand at first glance. Thus, it is also used to embellish a losing hand.
Classed as one of the non-standard Poker hands, the Blaze is seldom used as an official and is never present in the games operated under the official rules as well as that it has no recognised rankings in the official card-room Poker. Therefore, it will fall under the private games category along with the specific house rules. Then, it almost ranks higher than the two pair and ranks lower than the three-of-a-kind. But, it may also rank higher than three-of-a-kind because it is an unofficial rule which simply means that its rank and use can vary. Also, the term itself is widely used in many Poker-related conversations or speeches.
