G2 Esports remains the undisputed leader in the European League of Legends LEC. In the top match against their pursuer and arch-rival Fnatic, the Berlin-based team won convincingly and thus remains unbeaten in the first place of the table.
Over the first 20 minutes of the game, the team initially looked balanced. The teams showed respect for their opponents and lost individual heroes here and there. But with dominating team fights in the 23rd and 29th minute, G2 then gained the upper hand and quickly led the game to victory.
Due to the defeat of Fnatic, the chasing pack looks extremely tight. Four teams share the second place with a score of 4-2. With two victories each at the weekend, Misfits Gaming and MAD Lions, in particular, were able to distinguish themselves among the chasers.
For Schalke 04 the change of players did not pay off. The team had substituted Lukas “Lurox” Thoma from the dominant Academy team in the Prime League for the youngster Erberk “Gilius” Demir.
But the new squad was not convincing against Misfits Gaming or in the German derby against SK Gaming. With zero wins and six defeats, the royal blues are at the bottom of the table – together with Team Vitality, who have not yet won a game this season either.
During the stream interview after the game, Schalke’s top lancer Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu fought with tears. “Being trailing 0-4 takes its toll” said Odoamne concerning the starting position before this match week. “We have bad habits in the training sessions and focus on the wrong things. We have to get out of our comfort zone to get better, and that hasn’t happened yet.”
