The wait is over, on Friday, the Spring Split of the LEC starts. Defending champion G2 Esports opens the new season against the young talents of the MAD Lions. A difficult task awaits Fnatic.
On Friday at 6 pm starts the Spring Split of the LEC. It will officially be the first match of Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther as the new Bot-Laner of G2 Esports. For this Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković returns to the mid-lane – the position that has made him one of the best players in the world.
Despite the role-swap, the expectations after the hugely successful year 2019 at G2 are immense. On the other hand, the young talents of the MAD Lions have little to lose. With Norman ‘Kaiser’ Kaiser, Matyáš ‘Carzzy’ Orság and Zhiqiang ‘Shadow’ Zhao, three former Premier Tour players make their debut in this match.
As the player with the most LEC experience, mid-lancer Marek ‘Humanoid’ Brázda, who often shone in his first year in the highest European league, will try to get a leg up with his young teammates.
Upset against Rekkles and the ex-team
The big highlight of the first day is the match between vice-champion Fnatic and Origen. The direct duel between Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larsson and Elias ‘Upset’ Lipp is a real treat for fans.
Fnatic always had a slow start in the past splits with some defeats. The Origen lineup, which is certainly strong, is no doubt a serious threat to the six-time champion of the region on Friday.
The second match in Origen’s jersey is also explosive for Upset: It will be a direct match against FC Schalke 04, the former German team. He will be up against LEC returnee Konstantinos-Napoleon ‘FORG1VEN’ Tzortziou, who is best known for his dominant laning-phase and self-confidence.
Many fans have playfully seen upset as the successor to the Greek. Now, for the first time, the two Bot-Laners will meet directly in the gap. On Saturday at 7 pm the meeting between Origen and Schalke 04 will take place.
